Agape Foundation Fund for Nonviolent Social Change is celebrating 40 years of seeding peace and social change. Pie Ranch is thrilled and proud to be among the finalists for the Agape Foundation Rising Peacemaker Prize, which recognizes an innovative peacemaker who has undertaken the creation of peace in their community, nationally or internationally, and has been making a significant contribution for five years or less.

From opposing the Vietnam War to supporting nonviolent solutions in urban schools, Agape has been at the forefront of social change since 1969. Agape’s financial and technical support has helped over 800 peace and social justice groups take root and thrive. Their early support was crucial to hundreds of transformative organizations, including Amnesty International’s West Coast Office, the United Farm Workers Ministry – and their recognition of Pie Ranch’s work is very meaningful.

Each year, Agape honors peacemakers in celebration of the U.N.-declared International Day of Peace. Peace Prize awardees and finalists this year include Jackie Cabasso of the Western States Legal Foundation; Youth Together; Kjerstin Erickson of FORGE; Famoksaiyan; and Pie Ranch.

We will be in attendance on Thursday September 24, at 7 p.m. in the Green Room, War Memorial Veteran’s Building, 401 Van Ness, SF as Agape celebrates its 40 years and its fifth annual Peace Prize. We hope you will join us to honor this organization’s decades of work, and to celebrate Pie Ranch as a Rising Peacemaker finalist of 2009. We hope you consider a gift to Agape and lend a hand to seed the next generation of peacemakers.
